FATF Evaluations and their Impact on your Compliance Program

Session Details
FATF’s fifth round of mutual evaluations is well underway, and the United States is in the middle of its own assessment. FATF evaluators have been working with Treasury as part of the US Mutual Evaluation Review. The results will shape regulatory priorities, examiner expectations, and correspondent banking relationships for years to come.
This round is different. The fifth round puts a stronger, central focus on risk, context, and materiality, beginning with a scoping exercise built around each country’s specific ML/TF/PF risk profile. Assessors are looking past whether rules exist and asking whether they work. That shift does not stay at the national level. It flows directly to the institutions expected to deliver those outcomes.
In this session, our panel will discuss:
-
What early fifth-round evaluations reveal about where assessors are focusing
-
How national evaluation findings translate into new supervisory and examination priorities
-
Where institutions are most exposed when effectiveness, not technical compliance, is the measure
-
Practical steps to align your risk assessment, monitoring, and reporting with where regulators are heading
Whether you lead a compliance function at a bank, a FinTech, or a digital asset firm, this session will help you anticipate what comes next and position your program ahead of it.
